![]() ![]() Basically, almost the entirety of 707′s plot revolves around the whole hacker/Mint Eye meta plot that I’ve been studiously ignoring this whole time. And the hacker/“Unknown”/“Saeran” who’s been skulking about everywhere? 707′s twin brother, who V and Rika kidnapped and brainwashed after promising 707 they’d take care of him. His maid, Mary (?) Vanderwood, referenced in other routes, turns out to be 707′s handler for the agency. We learn that 707′s employer/agency is shady af - if 707 doesn’t do his job, he dies. But alas, the route takes a pretty dark turn once it actually gets started. It was super fun to finally get the chance to flirt with 707 during the first 4 days/common route, after holding back for so long. Things start out normal enough - MC trolls around in the chatroom alongside 707, all the characters are their usual wacky selves, etc. …Where do I even begin? 707′s route definitely possesses a level of crazy on par with Jumin’s route (I guess the Deep Routes are more plot-driven?). So uh… don’t hate me, okay? This is a personal review :’D So yeah, it's annoying, and he's a complicated guy, but he had his own messed up reasons. My understanding from briefly poking my head into the MysMe fandom is that 707 is an overwhelming fan favorite. And he obviously has feelings for MC, and his depression tells him, the nicest thing I can do is push her away. You don't wanna see the good in yourself, no matter what people say. And that's just how you gotta live man.Īnd him pushing you away? Well, it's hard sometimes to accept, that people would want anything to do with you when you're that depressed. It wasn't meant to deceive you into liking him, it was meant to deceive everyone from the sad reality. The mask, and how good and happy and funny it is. He let you close enough that now you get to see the actual person under that happy mask. Think more like, you passed to the next layer of understanding. Because that's how you cope and get through life. And he only shows most of the RFA (V obviously knows him better, maybe others) his fun loving, happy mask. That's the scary part of depression to me, not when I'm unable to get out of bed or shower or eat, but when I am completely passing as a "normal" person, and people are laughing, and have no idea what ideations I am fending off at that very moment. Look at real life examples of comedians that are actually very depressed and indulging in destructive behavior, some until they die young. It's not just a trope that the funny one is actually sad on the inside, the whole, crying clown business. Comedy is a great way to hide your pain :) I've been medicated for depression for over 12 years now, and among my friends, i'm "The Funny One." Those close know the "real" me, but yeah. And it's not that that face isn't you, it's just that, it's not being true to the actual depression you feel, or the problems you face internally. You can't be a success and make friends when you're crying and sad all the time. Well, I know part of it was his whole "secret agent" personality, but in a sense, Seven is actually a really good representation of an actual depressed person. You only have to look at Robin Williams to see how humour can come from a dark place and how the funniest people can be some of the saddest. The goofy and funny persona is real but only one part of a more complex person. TLDR: 707 is fake, an exaggeration of one aspect of his personality. MC accepting all those aspects of him allows him to gain some sense of self worth and be the complicated person he is, rather than a caricature. The 707 who took nothing seriously and reveled in the petty pleasures allowed to him (all those cars). The Luciel who shed his miserable childhood to go off into the only world he thought he belonged, that of a secret agent. The Saeyoung who lived in a horrible household, with only an even more suffering twin as his only companion. By the end the idea is that MC has helped him reconcile all his different identities. Those darker parts of his personality seep through once in a while but he worked hard to hide them under happy-go-lucky 707.ĭuring his route he tries to scare MC off by showing the opposite persona, the dangerous and walled-off secret agent. But the person behind that persona was much more complex and riddled with feelings of self-loathing and fatalism. The 707 persona was relentlessly cheerful and carefree, always joking and over the top. The way I see it 707 is a persona ("the aspect of someone's character that is presented to or perceived by others"). ![]()
